dc.description Report en_US
dc.description.abstract This report is based on the first National Survey of Victims' Views, which captured crime victims' experiences and ideas for improving safety and justice policy in the United States and is intended as a complement to the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). The report included information about the 800+ crime victims interviewed, including demographics, crime type, impact of crime on victims, and their access to help. Victims were asked for their views on incarceration, sentencing, community supervision, and spending for prisons and jails, education, prevention, treatment, and job creation. Overall, findings show that victims prefer rehabilitation and investment in crime prevention over punishment and paying for imprisonment. These views were mostly consistent across age, gender, race and ethnicity, and political party affiliation. (CVRL Abstract) en_US
