Abstract:
Presents statistics and analysis of reports of sexual assault in the military during FY 2016 and discussed program and policy improvements to Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program of the Department of Defense. The Department of Defense worked during fiscal year 2016 to address four key program efforts: Advancing Sexual Assault Prevention, Assuring a Quality Response to Service Members Who Report Sexual Assault, Improving Response to Male Service Members Who Report Sexual Assault, and Combatting Retaliation Associated with Sexual Assault Reporting. These efforts align toward a common end, which is to reduce, with the goal to eliminate, sexual assault from the military. The report also outlines the many actions advanced by the Department, Military Services, and National Guard Bureau during fiscal year 2016.
