Abstract:
Initiatives to promote asset ownership among low-income households have grown substantially in the last 20 years…Asset ownership among low-income groups has largely been promoted through savings, homeownership, and small business development initiatives. Only recently have such programs begun to emerge as a strategy for promoting the social and economic well-being of domestic violence survivors…This paper will discuss asset building programs, including some of the benefits of asset ownership and why asset building programs for domestic violence survivors may be important. The dearth of literature on assets and domestic violence is reviewed, calling for further research. [CVRL Note: listen also to podcast interview of same title, with Cynthia Sanders.] (Author text)
