Abstract:
Research has dedicated a significant amount of time and energy to exploring the relationship between adverse health effects and trauma in the form of intimate partner violence (IPV) victimization….[but] less is understood about how sexual orientation may condition the effects of IPV. This report presents results using data from the national Violence Against Women survey to compare the consequences of IPV in the form of depression, physical health, and alcohol and drug use between heterosexual and non-heterosexual individuals. The full study will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Women & Criminal Justice. (Author Text)
