Abstract:
This article summarizes the author’s study (NCJ 249736) which used the 2010 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey to examine the prevalence of violence against American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) women and men. The article discusses estimates of the types of violent crimes most frequently experienced by AI/AN populations, estimates of interracial and intraracial victimization. The NIJ journal summary calls the study “the most thorough assessment to date of the extent of violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women and men.” See the full study by Andre B.
