dc.description.abstract The Global School Health Study (GSHS) was designed to identify risk and protective factors associated with early death in students ages 13 to 17. There are 10 domains of risk examined including tobacco, drug, and alcohol use, diet, hygiene, physical and sexual activity, mental health, and violence and unintentional injury. Data are intended to be used to help schools to develop school health programs and resources to address risk factors and negative outcomes in youth. Data also allow for comparisons and trend analyses for health and behavior across and between countries. The GHSH was intended to present an international perspective on the health of youth. Countries from six regions use a form of the GSHS. A two-stage sampling design is used to identify participants by stratum and school. Countries can modify the base questionnaire to include country specific questions and areas of interest. (CVRL Abstract). en_US
